About OpenSearch Cluster Versions

OpenSearch 1.3.6

OpenSearch is a fork of open source Elasticsearch 7.10. While being fully compatible with Elasticsearch APIs, it has fixed some issues in Elasticsearch.

For better compatibility, this version is recommended when you migrate data from an Elasticsearch cluster.

OpenSearch 2.11.0

This is the latest version of OpenSearch. It may no longer support some of the Elasticsearch APIs, and it supports new features such as Segment Replication.

This version is recommended for new service deployment on the cloud, where compatibility between versions is not an issue.
